Friendships are often as complicated and nuanced as romantic relationships: the work for them is just as arduous, the loss of them brings grief, and the reward from them is mammoth. In 2019, I worked through a series specifically confronting insecurity, uncertainty, and desperation between two persons. Focusing on doubles, twins, and Geminis in combination with night-blooming flora, I celebrate the potential for growth in the darkness between two entities eternally connected. The figures coupled, suspended in open space in an expression of distress and yet, hopefulness.
