Caterpillar Soup

Caterpillar Soup is a phrase created to describe the metamorphosis stage between caterpillar and butterfly or moth. Within the chrysalis, in the pupae stage, the caterpillar breaks down its own cells and disintegrates into a somewhat literal gene pool. From this, the cells reengage and build what emerges as an entirely new insect. These works are a focus on that particular stage in the human experience. Often in grief, there is a moment of complete disintegration and rebuilding, unbeing and becoming.
